Terms of service

A few practical terms for using your own focus station, understanding its timer, and keeping control of your records.

Last updated: November 6, 2026 · App version 1.0

Carisa helps organize focus and rest on one device. It pauses when you leave the desk, keeps local records, and lets you decide what to export or delete.

1. These terms

These Terms of Service govern your use of the Carisa iOS app, provided by [OPERATOR_NAME] (“we”, “us”). By using Carisa, you agree to these terms to the extent permitted by applicable law. If you do not agree, stop using the app.

These terms describe the app’s services and do not replace mandatory consumer protections or the Apple terms applicable to your App Store download. Any applicable Apple Standard End User License Agreement also governs your license to the app.

2. A personal focus tool

Carisa helps you plan work and rest, record completed stages, and reflect on your activity. You can create tasks with labels and notes, choose 1, 2, 4, or 8 focus rounds, save reusable templates, set a daily goal, and export local records.

Classic rhythm uses 25 minutes of focus, 5 minutes of short rest, and 15 minutes of long rest after every fourth round. A one- or two-round plan finishes after its final short rest. A four-round plan finishes after its long rest. Custom default durations apply to new tasks using those defaults; changing defaults does not rewrite an existing task’s rhythm.

The current version contains no in-app purchases or subscriptions. Any App Store download price is shown by Apple before you obtain the app.

3. Timer behavior and limits

The timer runs while the timer desk is open and active. Leaving it for another tab or page, switching apps, locking the device, or an interruption pauses the timer. Return to the desk and choose Resume timer to continue. Time spent away is not counted as work or rest, and the app does not complete stages in the background.

Automatic stage transitions apply to natural completions while the desk is visible and active. Skipping or resetting still requires a manual start. Device sound, silent-mode settings, volume, haptic support, interruptions, and operating-system behavior can affect feedback.

Carisa is a personal productivity aid, not a safety-critical alarm, medical device, treatment, or professional advice. Do not rely on it for emergencies or other situations where a missed signal could cause harm. Results and productivity improvements are not guaranteed.

4. Understanding your records

A completed focus stage counts as one completed tomato. A skipped or reset attempt retains the actual elapsed time but does not count as a completed tomato. A plan can be marked complete even when you explicitly skip stages, including the final rest.

Daily focus totals include closed focus attempts, including time spent before a skip or reset. A running or paused unfinished attempt is not included until it is completed, skipped, or reset. Repeated resets can make actual time exceed planned time. Records use the local completion date and time zone saved for that record.

5. Local workspace and access

You may use the app without online registration. A guest profile, display name, and local session exist on your device and are not a remotely authenticated account. The app does not provide cross-device synchronization, a cloud account, or remote workspace recovery.

You are responsible for access to your device. Carisa does not provide a separate workspace password or biometric lock. Signing out preserves local business data and is not a privacy wipe.

6. Your content and permitted use

You retain your rights to the task titles, labels, notes, and other text you enter. We do not claim ownership of that content. You allow the app to store and process it locally to provide the functions you request, and to prepare files when you choose to export or share.

Use the app lawfully and only enter or share information you have the right to use. Do not use it to infringe another person’s rights, interfere with its operation, distribute malicious code, or bypass applicable access restrictions. Statutory rights to use or examine software are not limited by this clause.

7. Export, deletion, and data loss

You can export your journal as JSON and share, save, or copy a text receipt. A full journal export includes your notes and local profile. Review files before sharing them. The current app has no JSON import or automatic restore function; an export is a readable copy, not a promise of in-app recovery.

Clearing task data, deleting a task, or deleting the local account can permanently remove the corresponding local records. Uninstalling, device loss, storage failure, or replacing device data may also cause loss. Keep external copies of records you need. Device backups and third-party destinations are subject to their respective settings and services.

Clear task data preserves your profile and preferences; Sign out preserves your journal; Delete local account removes the local workspace and resets settings. The app cannot delete files you already saved or shared outside it. A non-content return-visit marker may remain after local account deletion.

8. Privacy and external destinations

Our Privacy policy explains local storage, voluntary exports, clipboard use, and support correspondence. The current app does not automatically transmit workspace data to us.

If you use an external share target, file provider, email service, or system backup, its terms and privacy practices apply. Those services are not operated by Carisa.

9. App materials and third-party notices

The app’s software and interface materials are owned by their respective rights holders and are licensed for use, not transferred to you. Your own task content remains yours.

Carisa includes Masonry and bundled DM Sans and Playfair Display fonts, subject to their applicable open-source and font licenses. Apple system symbols are used under Apple’s applicable terms. Third-party license notices are provided with the app; these terms do not restrict rights granted by those licenses.

10. Availability, warranties, and liability

We may provide updates, correct defects, or change features. Some updates may require a newer compatible iOS version. We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, compatibility with every future device or operating-system version, or recovery of deleted local data.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without additional promises of fitness for a particular purpose or error-free operation. To that extent, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the app, including loss of local records or missed timer feedback.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, mandatory warranties, or your statutory consumer rights. The law and courts that must apply to you under mandatory consumer protection rules remain available; these terms do not impose a separate mandatory arbitration process.

11. Ending use and changes

You can stop using Carisa at any time. Export any records you want to retain before deleting local data or removing the app.

We may revise these terms when the service changes. The date above identifies this version. We will provide any notice required by applicable law for material changes. Changes do not remove rights that have already accrued.
